Background:
Southfield Community Primary School was founded on the western edge of the small town of Oakham in 1966. The school consists of seven self-contained classrooms centred around a central hall, set on two and a half acres of grounds. Pupils are drawn from all over Oakham and villages to the west, with a free school bus running daily from Braunston. Sports include swimming, and children participate in inter-school tournaments in athletics, chess, cross-country and netball. Pupils have recently been involved in the writing and publication of two children's books.
